Privacy policy

Kerb Appeal and its three games, Tight Spot, Double Yellow and Lollipop, have no accounts and does not ask for your name or email address. Your game progress never leaves your device. The games are paid for by adverts from Google, and this page explains what that means for your data and the choices you have.

Who we are

Kerb Appeal is an independent studio making small browser games. In this policy "we" means the people who make and run them. You can contact us about anything on this page at arbaz00@gmail.com.

What is stored on your device

To remember how you did, each game saves a small record in your browser's local storage: your best results and runs, daily streaks, which characters and terms you have unlocked, whether you have seen the tutorial, and your settings such as sound, music and reduced motion. Tight Spot also keeps a simplified copy of the tyre tracks from your best daily park so it can draw it again.

This record stays in your browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time by clearing site data for this website in your browser settings, which resets your streak and results.

What we do not collect

We do not run accounts, contact forms or newsletters. We do not currently use any analytics service. If we add privacy-friendly visitor statistics later, we will update this page before doing so and describe exactly what is measured.

Advertising

The games show adverts through Google AdSense, using Google's ad service for web games. Adverts may appear at natural breaks, such as between streets or school days, and you can choose to watch one in exchange for a bonus, such as an examiner's hint, an extra shop offer or a second chance. Rewarded adverts are always optional and labelled before they play.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve adverts on this site. These can include identifiers stored in your browser and information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. Google's advertising cookies allow it and its partners to serve adverts based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet, to limit how often you see the same advert, to measure how adverts perform and to detect fraud.

Google may also work with other advertising companies, known as third-party vendors, which may place their own cookies. A list of the vendors that may be involved is shown in the consent message when you first visit.

Personalised and non-personalised adverts

Personalised adverts are chosen using information about your interests collected across websites. Non-personalised adverts are chosen using only general context, such as the page you are on and your approximate location, though cookies may still be used for frequency capping, measurement and fraud prevention. Where the law requires your consent, we only show personalised adverts if you agree to them.

Your consent and choices

If you visit from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, a consent message from a certified consent management platform appears before any advertising cookies are set. You can accept, decline or choose purposes and vendors individually. Declining does not stop you playing. You can change your mind at any time using the privacy settings link shown with the game.

Wherever you are, you can also:

• turn off personalised advertising from Google at Google's Ads Settings,
• opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu,
• block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

If you are a California resident, you may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. Declining personalised adverts in the consent message or in Google's Ads Settings has that effect for this site.

Other services the page loads

The fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches them, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information, as it would for any web request. Google states that it does not use this to build advertising profiles. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived server logs of requests, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.

Children

Our games are general audience games and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal information about you on our own systems, most requests can be handled in your browser by clearing site data. For information held by Google in connection with adverts, you can use the tools linked above or contact Google directly. If you have any question or complaint about this policy, email us and we will reply. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

Changes to this policy

If the way the game handles data changes, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
