No packs to pick from

Grids of Thermometers sells extra levels in $0.99 packs, or $5.99 for all of them, alongside a $4.49 subscription (Grids of Thermometers on the App Store). Mercuro keeps it to one set. 330 puzzles come free, and a single $4.99 Mercuro Pro purchase adds the other 330. Nothing renews.

Three dailies that grow

Both apps add puzzles every day. Mercuro's arrive as a set of three that grow in size, from a 6x6 or 7x7 Warm-Up to a Challenge between 10x10 and 12x12, and every player gets the same three on the same date.

When Grids of Thermometers is the better fit

If sheer volume is the goal, Grids of Thermometers lists thousands of levels against Mercuro's 660. It also runs on much older devices, back to iOS 12, and comes in English and 15 other languages (Grids of Thermometers on the App Store).

Switching over

The rules are identical, so there is nothing to relearn. Every board size in Mercuro has its own chapters of ten, and solving 7 in a chapter opens the next, so an experienced player moves fast. When a board does stall you, a hint names the next forced move and tells you why.
